Hill College’s women’s soccer team (ranked No. 13 in the nation with an overall record of 9-2-2, 6-0 in conference/region) secured its 10th consecutive regular-season title after a 2-0 win over Cisco on Oct. 9– setting up a potential 10th straight Region 5 Championship Oct. 25 at Howard Payne University in Brownwood.

In addition, the Rebels defeated Ranger College, 3-0, on Oct. 13, and will be facing them again in the Regional Championship matchup.

"Following Friday’s game, our women’s soccer program extended its streak to 68 unbeaten regional games in a row (63-0-5),” Hill College Head Women’s Soccer Coach Paul Davenport said. “Also, during this streak, we have outscored our opponents, 228-34.”

“If we are able to win our 10th Region 5 Championship in a row,” he added, “we will qualify for our 10th District Championship and will play the winner of Region 14 on a potential date of Nov. 4 at Gateway Park in Fort Worth beginning at 10 a.m. The winner of that game automatically qualifies for the NJCAA National Championship Tournament Nov. 12-18 in Wichita, Kansas.”

Other noteworthy items involved in the streak since the introduction of player accolades in 2015 include:

  • Hill College has claimed the Regional Player of the Year in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.
  • Hill College has claimed the Regional Championship MVP in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Davenport said if the women win their upcoming non-conference game against Jacksonville on Oct. 18, and then the Region Final on Oct. 25, the Women’s Soccer program will have won 150 games since 2011.

The upcoming Region 5 Championship will begin with the Hill College Women’s Soccer team playing Ranger Oct. 25 in Brownwood beginning at 1 p.m.; followed by the Hill College Men’s Team facing Western Texas College at 3 p.m. Both games will also be streamed courtesy of Howard Payne University.
